Bali, Indonesia: Island of the Gods – A Short but Unforgettable Escape

Tagged as the “Island of the Gods,” Bali, Indonesia is one of the world’s most sought-after tourist destinations. From its rich culture and ancient traditions to its stunning beaches and vibrant nightlife, Bali offers something for everyone.

I was lucky to experience Bali for two days with amazing friends. Although short, this trip was fun-filled, well-deserved, and full of unforgettable moments.

How to Get to Bali

Bali is just a four-hour flight from Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to Ngurah Rai International Airport in Kuta, Bali, Indonesia. Upon arrival, I was immediately welcomed by the unique Balinese culture — statues of deities and detailed architecture lining the airport.

I arrived at around 1:30 AM and faced a long queue at immigration. Luckily, my close friend picked me up, and we headed straight to Hard Rock Hotel Bali to rest and recharge.

Day 1: Beaches and Balinese Food

☀️ Breakfast at Hard Rock Hotel Bali

We started the day with a hearty breakfast at Starz Diner inside Hard Rock Hotel — a great way to fuel up for a day of exploring.

🏖️ Pandawa Beach – Bali’s Hidden Gem

Our first stop was Pandawa Beach, a relatively new destination in Bali. Though still under development, its raw beauty was evident. The beach featured fine pebble-like sand that was gentle underfoot, and the water was clean and inviting.

📍 Pandawa Beach Tip: Fewer crowds and minimal development make it ideal for a peaceful beach day.

🍽️ Lunch at Bebek Bengil (Dirty Duck Diner), Nusa Dua

A trip to Bali isn’t complete without trying traditional Balinese cuisine. We had Nasi Campur and their famous Crispy Duck (Bebek Bengil). The flavors were unforgettable — rich with traditional spices that leave you craving for more.

🌊 The Bay Bali, Nusa Dua

We then headed to The Bay Bali — a beautiful area combining luxury resorts and beachfront restaurants. You can swim, sunbathe, or just relax by the beach. The white sand and crystal-clear waters made it feel like paradise.

🌅 Sunset at Kuta Beach & Seminyak

In the late afternoon, we visited Kuta Beach, just a short walk from Hard Rock Hotel. Known as a surfing haven, its massive waves and golden sunset were truly captivating.

Later, we explored Seminyak, a more upscale and vibrant area north of Kuta. Known for its nightlife and party scene, Seminyak is a hotspot for international tourists. The streets were lively with music, bars, and beach clubs.

Day 2: Adventure and Shopping

🛶 White Water Rafting in Ayung River, Ubud

The highlight of the second day was white water rafting at Ayung River in Ubud. The rafting experience was thrilling, passing through lush rainforests, rock carvings, and playful monkeys. It was an adventure I’ll never forget.

🛍️ Souvenir Shopping at Kuta Square

Kuta Beach

After rafting, we spent time shopping at Kuta Square, where you’ll find everything from local handicrafts and souvenirs to clothes and accessories.

Final Thoughts: Why I’ll Return to Bali

Two days in Bali is simply not enough. There's so much more to explore — from Ubud’s sacred temples to hiking volcanoes, meeting the monkeys in the Sacred Monkey Forest, and diving deeper into Balinese culture and cuisine.

I fell in love with Bali — its people, its food, its spirit. I can’t wait to come back and discover more.

Until next time, Bali. Sampai Ketemu Lagi!
