I am curious about this pink sand beach in the area; this is also featured in the TV show "Byahe ni Drew" of GMA NewsTV. I'm so glad that my CouchSurfing friends had an idea to explore the area.
The Islet |
Sigaboy is a fishing municipality. There are no fancy hotels and restaurants that can be found here; just plain simple living and untouched beauty of nature.
Found in the province of Davao Oriental and south of Mati City, it is also a 3-4 hour ride from Davao City. My suggestion in exploring the municipality is to rent a car that can pass through some rough terrains.
The main objective of our trip is to beach bum on the pink sand beach. I researched about this beach, it was said that this was situated near the Parola or Lighthouse in Barangay Lavigan and it would take 2 hours from Poblacion Sigaboy. Prior reaching the Parola, the attractions of the municipality are truly breath-taking. In Barangay Monserrat and Tamban, found a road that has the view of the coast. This splendid view is perfect for sunset viewing.

Parola |
The Cape of San Agustin composed of the attraction such as the Altar, the Parola and the Pink Sand Beach. There is a small store where you can buy some snacks, bottled water, beer and other necessities.
The Parola is the lighthouse. There are some old demolished building seen in the Parola. Camping overnight in the area is allowed. But you must bring your own food.
At the edge of the Cape |
Minutes walk away from the Parola comes the Pink Sand Beach of Cape San Agustin. From afar, it looks like just a plain white sand beach. When it is touched by sea water, it turns to be somehow light pink. It is due to the fact that it has some red crushed corals with the sand.

I could say the Cape San Agustin is a fun lost experience. The majesty of the scenery amazes people. Truly a one of a kind. Proudly in Davao Region.
There are still some parts in Sigaboy that you can explore like the Sigaboy Island, Snorkeling Spots and more.
