Experiencing Penang

Penang is known as Pearl of the Orient. This diverse state of Malaysia has a lot to offer.

This was my first time in Malaysia and I choose to explore Penang first for an awesome food trip and cultural experience.

From Ninoy Aquino International Airport, you'll arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 from a 4-hour plane ride. from there I took a bus to TBS  or Terminal Bersepadu Selatan an hour and got a bus ticket to Sg. Nibong, Penang for 5 hours. It was kinda long travel time but I had a great experience with the bus terminal transfers and bus rides. I suggest booked a ticket online for bus tickets or you can just have a connecting flight to Penang from Kuala Lumpur.

The famous street art of Georgetown in Lebuh Armenian
Georgetown, Penang's capital, is a UNESCO heritage site. From there I explore the alleys of Penang.

The Lebuh Armenian is the famous street of Georgetown where several mixed media art can be found on this street. Several old houses and souvenir shop can be found here.

Penang is also known for a foodie's heaven for food of different variations and flavors can be found here and its amazingly cheap! I'll write another blog post about my food trip in Penang soon.

There are also Buddhist Temples that can be visited in Georgetown. I visited two Buddhist temples. One is the Dhammikarama Burmese Temple and Wat Chaiyamangalaram Thai Buddhist Temple. Both temples are nicely designed and very solemn. I also tried lighting Joss Sticks as offerings.

What I love about Penang is it has a share of nice beaches. I visited Batu Feringgi, a 15 minute drive north from Georgetown and stroll around a stretch of white sand beach. They rays of the sun will turn the waters into nice blue color especially in the summer.

Penang has a lot to offer. I must say that I need to return to Penang. I would love to return and come back and explore more of its culture, tradition and FOOD! Until next time! Sampai Ketemu Lagi
